Grey Team Outlasts the Blue Team On A Steamy August Afternoon

On a hot Saturday afternoon the Fishtown AC Alumni Association hosted its 3rd Annual Community Softball Game and Scholarship Presentation Ceremony.  After the Scholarship Awards were presented, Elsie McCloskey got things underway by throwing out the first ball.  With that start the game between the Grey and Blue teams was underway.  In the top of the first, the Grey team opened up a commanding 8 run lead.  While it took a while, the Blue team pecked away, and by the 7th inning  they had closed the score to 12-6.  In the top of the 7th the Grey team scored one run, increasing the score to 13-6.  Never the less, the Blue team, still determined, fought back in the last half inning and scored 4 runs, and had runners on base when the final out was recorded.  While the final score was close, the Grey team prevailed with a 13-10 vitory.  Tim Bryan, pitching for the Grey team was strong, not allowing the Blue team to score any runs until the 5th inning.  Tim was supported by a strong defense the entire game, and timely hitting throughout.  The Alumni Association thanks all the players for their participation in making the Annual Community Softball Game one to remember.

Scholarships were awarded to Rylie Elizabeth Tobin, Kendal Kanagie, Mary Tomczak, Marisa Murphy, Emily DeOrio, & Ava Grace Cain
